Pia Horan-Gross

Pia has been a Christian since her late thirties. She believes in a born-again saving experience (John 3:1-21), not just "becoming religious", as some would define salvation. This event sealed a life-long search for spiritual truth, starting with Catholicism, Atheism, Anthroposophy, Buddhism and the teachings of Krishnamurti until she, somehow (by God's grace) stumbled into born-again Christianity! Being a lifelong learner, she received a Batchelor of Health Science Degree from Sydney University in 2000, after having received a Certificate in Welfare Work from North Sydney TAFE and a certificate for a part-time course in English Literature from the University of the Third Age (Sydney Uni), boosting her literary and creative interests. Her burden for the plight of refugees had been there for a while until, in 2014, she responded to a call for specific prayer support for this tragic section of humanity. Her initial prayer and intercessory group became the present group of followers of this informative website, https://worldwiderefugeeprayernetwork.com, where she has been posting updates for prayer regarding refugee needs.

TENTS DANCING – a poem

Hot, dry wind over parched desert land, swirling up sand, stinging eyes and partly exposed faces, mainly of women and children cueing for their daily rations. A sea of tents, as far as the eye can see. Makeshift homes of refugees; once large families with a desire to prosper and to give a future […]

The golden rule for living the Kingdom Life

As intercessors but also as ordinary Christians, living our daily lives, we encounter many difficulties and heartaches. It is part of the journey and walk of faith. Some of us can get unstuck during these challenging times. We become overly focussed on the problems, to the point of obsession. We lose our peace, become frantic

Brief overview of present – day Greece

Greece’s Economic & Political Climate: The (Greek) economy has shrunk by a quarter in five years, and unemployment is about 25 percent. The (EU) bailout money mainly goes toward paying off Greece’s international loans, rather than making its way into the economy. And the government still has a staggering debt load that it cannot begin

The Upcoming Australian Election (can be applied to any election; anywhere!) – My thoughts

Let’s be those who prayerfully consider the present needs of our precious country of Australia and make the effort to carefully consider the responsibility before us to appoint worthy representatives in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Are they representing our struggling and often forgotten farmers, those most vulnerable in our society such

Some thoughts on religion

Although I consider myself a committed Christian, I absolutely believe that religion per se is the great counterfeit to God’s (Christ’s) Kingdom. For example, religion would try to promote God and His Christ (1 Chronicles 17:11-14) as central but in reality they are used as a smoke screen. Religion in general, is focussed on man’s

Prayer Call for Palestinians

Dear praying friends, Would you like to join me in praying for Christians who find themselves continuously surrounded by hateful, inflammatory speech, which in some cases has been part of generations of their families? I particularly am thinking of Christians living in the Palestinian Territories, surrounded by but also filled with hatred for the Jewish

An alternative to offshore detention

An alternative to offshore detention by Julian Burnside | Nov 4, 2015 | Asylum Seekers, Human Rights The  present system of dealing with asylum seekers who arrive by boat is cruel (intentionally) and hideously expensive.  There is a rational alternative to the  intentional cruelty of the present system. That system reflects the attempts of both

Israeli-Palestinian Reconciliation?

Written by Aaron Trank, Jews for Jesus, San Francisco (Extract from an article of the same title, see further info at the end of this article) The command for unity in the church is not bound by racial, socio-economic, or political borders. But how do we have unity with those whose ideologies are seemingly irreconcilable

God’s promises to refugees in Psalm 107

The Israelites, thousands of years ago, found themselves to be wandering in the wilderness, cut off from their previous lives, with only God’s help as their hope and God appointed leaders to help them. Today, there are still millions of people in the same situation, many have never heard of the God who deeply cares for

Easter greetings and some thoughts on human slavery

Dear friends and fellow pray-ers! Like some of you; this morning I awoke to a Facebook security message asking me to reply whether I was safe, in view of an explosion which took place just recently. NAURU DETENTION FOR CHILDREN UNACCEPTABLE SAY ANGLICAN CHURCH BISHOPS

Melbourne’s Anglican bishops have again urged the Prime Minister, Mr Malcolm Turnbull, to change the narrative on children in detention despite the High Court decision that there is no legal impediment to returning more than 250 asylum seekers to Nauru. The L-Factor in all things

Love is probably one of the most (mis)used words, yet least understood. We call love between “brothers”, those who are united in the same cause ‘Philia’. The love between family members is called ‘Storge’. Then there is the much sung about type, Eros; consisting of powerful sexual attraction. When God speaks of His love,

Some thoughts around the Christmas season

Observing the yearly gradual acceleration of Christmas events and preparations for Christmas, I am becoming aware that increasingly, Christmas carols and events are becoming focussed on entertainment, rather than on the actual Christmas message. And I don’t mean Santa and his reindeers! The issue and need for constant entertainment is taking over more and more
