Pia Horan-Gross

Pia has been a Christian since her late thirties. She believes in a born-again saving experience (John 3:1-21), not just "becoming religious", as some would define salvation. This event sealed a life-long search for spiritual truth, starting with Catholicism, Atheism, Anthroposophy, Buddhism and the teachings of Krishnamurti until she, somehow (by God's grace) stumbled into born-again Christianity! Being a lifelong learner, she received a Batchelor of Health Science Degree from Sydney University in 2000, after having received a Certificate in Welfare Work from North Sydney TAFE and a certificate for a part-time course in English Literature from the University of the Third Age (Sydney Uni), boosting her literary and creative interests. Her burden for the plight of refugees had been there for a while until, in 2014, she responded to a call for specific prayer support for this tragic section of humanity. Her initial prayer and intercessory group became the present group of followers of this informative website, https://worldwiderefugeeprayernetwork.com, where she has been posting updates for prayer regarding refugee needs.

A few thoughts regarding the turmoil in Europe

My heart goes out to the people in Europe at this time, especially the countries at the epicentre of the latest terrorist event in Paris. I sense great turmoil in the minds and hearts of Europeans, especially so as at the same time they are being flooded by refugees seeking asylum. As it has been revealed

Truth Matters (noun and verb!)

In a world of relative truth(s)*(see footnote), which in my opinion really are lies, I believe it is our lives’ purpose and primary task to find truth for ourselves. Truth about what? First and foremost, I believe we need to come to a decision about the existence or non-existence of God. Has man made up

ACN PRESS – INTERNATIONAL REPORT ON PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS 2013-15

Source: ACN PRESS – INTERNATIONAL REPORT ON PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS 2013-15 This report  gives sobering insight into what is happening to the Christian community in areas of worst persecution. I found it on the Voice of the Persecuted Website. It puts a much needed stop (I hope!) to the petty bickering that is happening word-wide as to

Imminent new additional asylum seeker intake (2015) for Australia

Hello dear praying friends! It’s been a while since my last posting. I had a welcome two weeks’ break and attended a four days conference to do with reconciliation in the world-wide Body of Christ. Truly inspiring! Despite my silence, I hope that you have been persevering with praying for the needs of refugees. I

Truth in a world of relative truths

To carry the Truth in a world of relative truths is a burden and costly. It is not our truth but His! It is not a set of dogmas, ideas, philosophical treaties or any other thing parading as truth, but a person: Jesus Christ! He said of Himself: “I AM (emphasis mine, although Christ identifies

Some more promises to claim!

As we continue to pray for the latest prayer issue (refugees in and heading for Europe), we all have heard of many of those refugees abandoned in desert areas (the sea of course is another type of “desert area”), often due to people smugglers’ dodgy cars (or boats) braking down, or abandoned in “holding camps”

Some Principles of Intercession by Pia

This morning, in my study time with the Lord, looking for another scripture, I “accidentally” came across a tremendous scripture to do with our prayer topic (refugees) and the root problem; wars on the earth, whether small or large. The scripture is found in Psalm 46:9 “He makes wars cease to the end of the

Prayer Points for The Refugee Situation in Europe (2015)

Father God, we lift up the refugee situation in Europe. As wars and the threat of terror posed by many rogue terror groups increases all across the Middle East and the African Continent and as wars and rumours of wars become the norm (Matt. 24:6), we pray that the hearts of Europe’s leaders and its

The Refugee Situation in Europe (2015)

The scale of … tragedies is shocking but no novelty. It is estimated that since 1993 some 20,000 migrants have died trying to cross Europe’s southern borders. The true figure is undoubtedly higher: Thousands have perished, their deaths unrecorded. Who is to blame? European politicians point the finger at traffickers. On Monday (20.4.2015 my inclusion),

The Importance and Basic Right of Freedom of Choice and Freedom of Informed Decision-Making

The first two people, Adam and Eve, according to my Bible, were duped by the deceiver to make a decision that was based on misinformation and a smearing of God’s character, resulting in them distrusting Him and disobeying His command. What the deceiver did was an actual projection of his own character onto God’s. This practice continues to

The Rohingyas

Why Burma’s Rohingya Muslims are among the world’s most persecuted people. Denied citizenship, forced into manual labour and forbidden to marry without government permission. Living by the Spirit versus living by the soul

Most of my unsaved and during part of my saved life I lived, unaware, through my soul, instead of through the power of the Spirit. I attended regular fellowship as a believer, read the Bible and earnestly desired to live the life of a Christian, as taught in the Scriptures. Yet, I still felt controlled

Somalia

History Comprised of a former British protectorate and an Italian colony, Somalia was created in 1960 when the two territories merged. Since then its development has been slow. Relations with neighbours have been soured by its territorial claims on Somali-inhabited areas of Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti. In 1970 Mr Barre proclaimed a socialist state, paving
