Observing the yearly gradual acceleration of Christmas events and preparations for Christmas, I am becoming aware that increasingly, Christmas carols and events are becoming focussed on entertainment, rather than on the actual Christmas message. And I don’t mean Santa and his reindeers!
The issue and need for constant entertainment is taking over more and more of people’s lives. Why? I believe it represents “time out”, forgetting about one’s problems and pressures for a while, a need which even the central figure of Christ(mas) acknowledges in Psalm 23:1-3: “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.”
Entertainment seems to be the natural panacea that people gravitate to, in order to ease the stress of life. Christ offers something far better; not a band-aid but a complete restoration!”
May you enjoy a calming, reassuring Christmas season and a joyful Christ-centred Christmas celebration!
Thanks, Pia.
A welcome message…
