*Abba Father, we lift up every man, woman and child who find themselves locked away in a refugee centre or similar situation of detention, where their basic freedoms have been taken away from them and where their hope for a better future in our land has been lost.
*We pray for an end of indefinite incarceration and of leaving these vulnerable people with no seeming prospects of an end to their present situation.
*We pray that the lawmakers in our land would become alarmed at what is happening to refugees and at the injustice of the present laws regarding refugees.
*We pray that the need of protecting our borders would be kept in balance with the need to be a nation where refugees are seen as persons deserving our compassion and treated with dignity.
Pray further, keeping in mind the following:
”Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world” (James 1:27).
“A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows is God in His holy habitation” (Ps. 68:5).
“The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow” (Ps. 146:9)
and “Cursed is he who distorts the justice due an alien, orphan, and widow” (Deut. 27:19)
